Loose Diamond Program

To help ensure the integrity of our supply chain, all diamonds sold by Hoover & Strong are covered by either the Kimberly Process or our own brand of Harmony Diamonds. Most of our center stones (1/4 ct and larger) are certified by one of several major gem labs including AGS, GIA, EGLUSA, GCAL or IGI.

Kimberly Process certified diamonds are conflict-free diamonds acquired from sources that participate in the Kimberley Process Certification System. The Kimberley Process was established in 2003 as part of United Nations resolution 55/56 to eliminate the flow of "conflict" or "blood" diamonds — rough diamonds smuggled out of war-torn regions by those seeking to sell these diamonds to finance violence. The trade in these illicit stones has fueled decades of devastating conflicts in countries such as Angola, Cote d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Sierra Leone.

A joint government, industry and civil society initiative, the Kimberley Process Certification System (KPCS) imposes extensive requirements on its members to enable them to certify shipments of rough diamonds are "conflict-free".

Harmony Diamonds form an important part of Hoover & Strong's mission to offer our customers a way to ensure that their jewelry is made from the most environmentally sensitive materials available.

Harmony Diamonds (The most eco-friendly natural diamond available)

Diamonds have been treasured as gem stones since their use in religious amulets in India dating as far back as 6,000 years ago. Approximately 4.5 billion carats of diamonds have been extracted from the ground since large scale mining efforts began in South Africa in the 1870’s. This means many millions of diamonds are part of the world’s existing, above ground, supply of diamonds. In order to reduce the industry’s reliance on environmentally damaging mining practices, Hoover & Strong is proud to participate in the acquisition and reintroduction of these many millions of diamonds back into the jewelry supply chain.

A recycled Harmony Diamond is a naturally occurring diamond, cut & polished from mined rough, previously set in jewelry then removed, and re-introduced into the supply chain for resale.

Canadian Diamonds

Hoover & Strong offers certified, conflict free, diamonds from the Canadian Arctic. These diamonds are mined in the Canadian North and responsibly cut and polished. Their production and sale are subject to strict standards, set out by the Canadian Code of Conduct, CanadaMark™, and the Government of the Northwest Territories, designed to protect the Arctic environment, mine workers and local employees. Known for their sparkle and clarity, Canadian diamonds rank among the most spectacular diamonds currently available.
