The international nonprofit Pure Earth returns this year with a special collection of responsibly-sourced gold jewelry from over 20 leading designers that will be showcased by members of the Model Mafia, a collective of activist models brought together by Cameron Russell and Áine Campbell.
Once again, the designers will work with responsible gold that has been donated in part by Hoover and Strong. The collection will be launched for auction online, concluding at the Pure Earth "Pollution Solutions" benefit on April 8. Funds raised will support Pure Earth's life-saving toxic pollution cleanup efforts around the world, including work to train artisanal and small-scale miners worldwide to go mercury-free.
Over the years, Pure Earth's responsible jewelry collections have helped to raise awareness about how artisanal gold mining is a leading cause of global mercury emissions. Today, pollution is the largest environmental cause of death and disease in the world, with children being the most vulnerable.
