Preparing Your Shipment
The method of shipping is up to your own discretion. The majority of our shipments are received through the post office by registered or insured mail. UPS or Motor Freight are used to ship the larger refining shipments such as floorsweeps and polishing dust.
Packaging Your Scrap
As part of our HARMONY brand of recycled products, we encourage you to RECYCLE our boxes. Many jewelers use our shipping boxes to send their scrap back to us. This means one less box put into the landfill. We also offer a handy trash can size box for your polishings and sweeps. Avoid using zip lock bags and do not wrap bags with adhesive tape. This causes your scrap to be caught in the lip of the bag and adheres to the tape.
In addition, include a letter or note with a contact name, company name, address, phone number, approximate weight and description of your material, assay and what settlement option or product you would like in return for your refining. Six Easy Steps To Package Your Scrap For Shipment
- Double plastic bag and seal your material securely.
- Note name, contact, phone, address, contents and weight.
- Place into a secure box along with a cover letter.
- Label the outside of your box clearly with your name and address.
- Mark “RUSH” on the OUTSIDE of the BOX for RUSH SERVICE. Address your shipment to: Hoover & Strong, 10700 Trade Rd., Richmond, VA 23236-3000. No need to mark the package to anyone's attention. All packages come to our refining division.
