Giving Back to the Community
Hoover & Strong gives back to the community in a number of ways. We are long-time supporters of charitable organizations like Freedom House for the Homeless, the United Way and the American Red Cross.
Fund-raising is a large part of our organization. Countless co-workers participate every year in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life program, Chesterfield Chasm’s Thanksgiving Baskets program and the Chesterfield Christmas Mother.
As a supporter of the Arts, Hoover & Strong contributes yearly to the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and the VCU Metals Department through donations and sponsorships of jewelry design competitions, such as the annual "Hoover Jewelry for Charity" Competition. This popular fund-raiser is open to all jewelry students attending public or private jewelry schools in the U.S. and includes the task of creating an original bracelet design that can be produced for under $10 (including labor) for a designated charity.
Hoover & Strong produces the winning design and distributes it to jewelers throughout the U.S. The bracelets are then sold, with all proceeds going to the selected charity or charities. This is just another way we give back to the community and do what we do best – make jewelry!
