POSITION: CAD/CAM Department Project Manager

REPORTS TO: Tool Room Supervisor
 
SUMMARY: The CAD/CAM Department Project Manager will have functional responsibility for directing the work of the CAD design department in the jewelry manufacturing industry as well design and develop new products.  Ideal candidates will have both strong leadership and technical skills.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities will include jewelry design and new product development as well as repairs on existing tools and redesign of existing product.

Supervise and monitor the daily activities of the CAD design co-workers. Primary duties will include managing all projects and insuring that deadlines are met. He or she will also be responsible for coordinating new product and jewelry designs. He or she will coordinate all projects in the CAD design area from beginning to end and follow up until final approval is achieved and production is implemented.

Responsible for assisting in the development of the organizational structure of the department, including manuals and specs for all jobs.

Provide analytical analysis for all current projects as well as new projects, helping to determine the best ways to optimize quality and production.

Responsible for preparing daily progress reports on all projects.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
 

• Five years experience in CAD or the equivalent in college training (SolidWorks and or Rhino preferred). 
• Three years supervisory experience in a CAD environment
• Experience in both jewelry casting and findings production as well as new product development and jewelry design
• CAD/CAM experience using SolidWorks and Rhino for CAD work and Feature Cam for NC output to various CNC machines
• Good organizational skills
• Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent math and analytical skills
• Experienced with Microsoft office, particularly Excel

POSITION: Polisher/Finisher - Hand Polishing of jewelry that contains stones, stone mountings, wedding bands, and miscellaneous jewelry parts.  Grinding and surface preparation of precious metal parts for automated mechanical finishing operations.  Accurate daily accounting and reporting of tasks, part, and metal inventory. Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment. Reasonable maintenance and care of departmental equipment, tools, and processes. Cleaning and recovery operations related to dust collection systems of the polishing department. Other duties related to the hand finishing department or jobs outside that department where training is provided.  Continually consider and think of ways to improve quality, reduce costs, and increase output.


Position Requirements: Minimum of 2 years experience in jewelry polishing.  Experience in a manufacturing/production environment is a plus. Intimate knowledge of the various polishing machines, wheels, buffs, brushes compounds, and techniques for various jewelry metals.  Special consideration will be given to someone that can demonstrate skill in the use of a split lap machine. Good eyesight as well as good eye / hand coordination.  Attention to detail is a must. Ability to sit for long periods of time, to concentrate, and to be able to do repetitive work. Good verbal communication skills. Strong multi-tasking skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and keep a positive attitude while under pressure.
